The Kenyan government decided to conduct a far-reaching program to rehabilitate Meru Park via the Kenya Wildlife Service. The main objectives were to restore security and infrastructure, reintroduce species and revive tourist activity. AFD, in partnership with the FGEF, wished to support the rehabilitation of the Meru protected area by providing technical and financial assistance to KWS. <Find out more>
The project financed by AFD aims to achieve a sustainable management of water resources, preserve Red Sea and Dead Sea ecosystems and foster communication between the administrations of the relevant countries, donor community and public opinion. <Find out more>

In 1997 AFD began rehabilitating the Prey Nup polders along with Gret and Handicap international. The project is based on the creation of a farmers' association to manage the infrastructure. In a country marked by collectivism and the Khmer Rouge genocide this social construction is truly original. <Find out more>

Morocco’s Ifrane province is home to the most beautiful cedar forests in the Mediterranean Basin. They are however now under threat of overexploitation. AFD is supporting a large-scale project to protect these forests in close partnership with local populations and other partners. <Find out more>

Following the Paris Summit for the Mediterranean on 13 July, France will, via AFD, devote 730 million euros to the initiative to finance the implementation of depollution programs and projects in the Mediterranean. <Find out more>
France took over the Presidency of the European Union on 1 July and over the next six months AFD will be supporting France’s development initiatives.
